Queen of the South U17 1 V 5 Ayr United U17

On Sunday afternoon, Ayr United Under 17s travelled to Dumfries to take on Queen of the South in their first CAS Cup game of the season. The Honest Men won 5-1 thanks to goals from Brandon Cullen, Jack Allan, Kyle Fraser, Reece Craig and Jude McClymont.

Ayr United went into half time with a 1-0 thanks to a Brandon Cullen penalty. The penalty was awarded for a foul on Jack Allan inside the box and Cullen stepped up and slotted the penalty into the bottom left corner of the net.

The first substitution of the game was made at half time when Blaike Hay was replaced by Kai Linton.

United started the second half well and doubled their lead after 4 minutes. Great work from Jamie Hislop lead to the ball being played to Jack Allan who fired an effort from 25 yards out into the top right corner of the net.

2 more substitutions were made in quick succession which saw 2 of the Ayr United Under 16s, who were playing up an age group, come on the pitch. The first was made in the 54th minute when Archie Traynor replaced David Craig and the next substitution was made 4 minutes later when Oliver McGorm replaced Jack Pryce.

In the 60th minute, Ayr United were awarded a free kick just outside the box. Kyle Fraser stepped up to take the free kick and floated it over the wall and into the right hand side of the net.

The final substitution was made in the 61st minute when goal scorer Jack Allan was replaced by Reece Craig.

Queen of the South got a goal back in the 65th minute when they were awarded a penalty which was scored into the bottom left corner of the net.

Less than 15 minutes after being substituted on, left back Reece Craig added his name to the score sheet. Craig fired an effort from 20 yards out on the left into the right of the net. A minute before the end, Jude McClymont, who had played most the game at left back before moving to left wing when Reece Craig was substituted on, added his name to the score sheet as well. His effort from around 20 yards out went over the keeper and floated into the top of the net.

A great start for the Under 17s to their CAS Cup campaign which saw the Honest Men win 5-1 with 5 different goal scorers.
