On Friday afternoon, Ayr United Under 18s travelled to Glenrothes to take on Dunfermline in their their first post-split fixture. The Honest Men narrowly lost 1-0.
In the first minute of the game, Ayr United won a free kick slightly outside the box when the Dunfermline goalkeeper came out of the box and handled the ball to deny Scott Tomlinson who was driving through on goal however the keeper only received a yellow card.
The Honest Men were forced into an early substitution when Harry Simpson went off injured and was replaced by Ryan Kennedy.
Dunfermline took the lead of the game in the 35th minute when their number 5 got on the end of a corner and put the ball in the back of the net.
Despite creating a number of great chances in the second half, the Honest Men were unable to capitalise and Dunfermline’s goal in the first half was enough to give them all 3 points.
