Ayr United U17 3 V 4 Morton U17

On Sunday morning, Ayr United Under 17s welcomed Morton to the Riverside in what was a fiercely contested game which saw the Honest Men narrowly defeated 4-3 by the visitors.

Ayr United took the lead of the game in the 11^th minute. Jamie Hislop drove into the box and had an effort towards goal which looked to hit off the wheel of the goal however play continued and Hislop put the rebound into the far side of the net.

The Honest Men capitalised quickly and doubled their lead 3 minutes later. Jack Allan played a great ball into the box which was headered down and into the net by Brandon Cullen.

In the 17^th minute, Morton grabbed a goal back. A cross was played into the box and the Morton player put it in around the back post area to make the score 2-1 going into half time.

Morton got their equaliser early as they scored 7 minutes into the second half when their players effort from just inside the box hit the back of the net. They then took the lead 8 minutes later when their players effort found the top of the net. In the 63^rd minute, Morton made it 4-2 when a ball was crossed into the box and headered in.

The Honest Men got a goal back in the 71^st minute when the Morton keeper came out to receive the ball but Jack Allan got away from him and the 2 defenders to slot the ball into the empty net.

In the 90^th minute, Morton were reduced to 10 men when their played received a red card for pushing United right back Kyle Fraser in the face.

Ayr United continued to push for a well deserved equaliser but were unable to get it and it was the visitors that gained all 3 points.
