Ayr United U18 3 V 0 Ross County U18

On Friday afternoon, Ayr United Under 18s welcomed Ross County to Ayrshire for their CAS Performance League fixture. The Honest Men won 3-0 thanks to goals from Scott Tomlinson, Max Guthrie and Lyall Holding.

Ayr United took the lead in the 24th minute when left back CJ Johnston did really well to get past a couple of Ross County players inside the box before cutting the ball back and playing it low into the 6 yard box. United captain Scott Tomlinson made his way into great space at the back post areas and was there to tap the ball in to give his side an advantage over their visitors from the Highlands.

The home side then doubled their lead a few minutes before half time when the ball was chipped over the Ross County defence and was met by Max Guthrie. The striker kept his composure to turn and fire the ball into the net to give his side the 2-0 lead going into half time.

Ayr United made a substitution at half time when Ollie Ecrepont was replaced by Derren Fairns. Another 4 substitutions were made by the home side in the second half. Harry Simpson replaced Bruce Strachan (56th minutes), Ryan Kennedy replaced Max Guthrie (61st minute) and Brett Galvin and Jonathan McPhee replaced John West and Scott Tomlinson (76th minute).

In the 77th minute, the Honest Men scored their third and final goal. Dylan Watret, fresh from his first team debut the previous weekend, played a great ball into the box which was met by centre back Lyall Holding who put it in the back of the net.

A great team performance saw the Under 18s beat Ross County 3-0. The Under 18s take on Kilmarnock on Friday night (16th December) in their final fixture before the Christmas break.
