United sign Albinson
United add keeper Albinson ahead of season opener
The Honest Men have today signed 24-year old goalkeeper Charlie Albinson to a one-year contract ahead of Saturday’s Premier Sports Cup group stage game away to Albion Rovers.
Manager David Hopkin said: “We are delighted to now have two goalkeepers signed to the club who will both compete for the number one spot. Charlie is young and has really good potential, we have had him here for some time now and have been very impressed. Aidan and Charlie will now have really healthy competition between them which will raise both their performances."
Born in Bolton, Albinson joined Manchester City at the age of eight, progressing through the youth set-up to feature for the club in the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup squad which reached the final of 2015.
He gained experience of first-team football with Rossendale United and Warrington Town and also spent time at Bury before joining Blackburn Rovers in 2017 where as part of the U23 squad he won PL2 Division 2. After leaving Blackburn in 2019, he signed for Southport and last season played for Northern Premier League side Warrington Town.
There will be an interview with Charlie on Black & White TV later today.
