Salkeld signs for United

David Hopkin has today made his first move in the summer transfer window with the signing of midfielder Cameron Salkeld.

22-year old Salkeld re-joins his former Morton manager at Somerset Park after two seasons with the Cappielow club. The Gateshead-born right-sided midfielder started his career with Carlisle United and experienced Scottish football on loan at Annan Athletic, before a season with his home-town team Gateshead in the National League.

Hopkin signed Salkeld for Morton in June 2019 and he made 47 appearances for the Ton, scoring 3 goals.

The manager said:"I am delighted to be able to get Cammy signed. I brought him up from Gateshead to Morton and he has improved a lot since then. He is really strong and powerful with great pace. Cammy is predominantly a right sided midfielder but he can also play up front. He is something different to what we already have at the club."
