Raith Rovers vs. Ayr United
SPFL Championship Tuesday 9th March 2021.
Tonight (Tuesday), the Honest Men travel to Kirkcaldy for a rearranged Championship fixture versus Raith Rovers. United will be looking to make it two consecutive league wins for the first time this season, building on an important 2-0 win at Cappielow on Saturday.
With that win, The Honest Men will want to start looking up rather than down the league table. United head to Starks Park one point ahead of ninth placed Morton and level on points with Inverness, with those two sides facing each other in the Highlands this evening.
Opposition
Rovers defeated Alloa Athletic in their last match, responding to an early Innes Cameron goal at Starks Park with strikes from Iain Davidson, Regan Hendry and James Gullen in the second-half. Raith were due to play Dunfermline Athletic last Friday, however, a COVID outbreak within the Pars camp saw the Fife derby postponed.
Raith have lost the next game after each of their last four wins but remain in second place in the league table following their promotion from League 1 last season. John McGlynn’s men are one of three teams within the promotion play-off places, all on 27 points, albeit the Kirkcaldy club have a game in hand on third place Dunfermline and have played three fewer than Queen of the South.
Team News
Slovakian goalkeeper Peter Urminsky has signed on loan from St. Mirren until the end of the season following Ellis Hare-Reid’s return to his native New Zealand.
However, Urminsky is not available for tonight’s game due to COVID protocols. Under-18s keeper Luca Sandberg will instead provide back-up to Viljami Sinisalo.

We were delighted on Saturday. Everyone gave us the performance we were looking for and won their battles in all areas of the pitch. We need the exact same application tonight and there is no doubt the boys have taken a lot of confidence from the result and performance on Saturday. Raith have been excellent this season but we head there tonight with a fully fit squad and the belief we will get a result.
