Queen's Park | Match Preview | 05/08/22

Friday 5th August 2022, 7.45pm kick-off

The Honest Men are on their travels this evening as they head to Ochilview to take on Championship new boys, Queens Park. Both sides kick started their respective league campaigns with a draw last weekend but Lee Bullen and Owen Coyle will both be hoping their teams can go one better this time round.

United approach Friday’s game off the back off a 0-0 draw at home to Arbroath last weekend. However, despite drawing a blank, Ayr turned in an impressive performance and on another day could have been out of sight in the opening 45 minutes. Lee Bullen will be looking for his players to turn performances into results after just one goal in their opening five competitive outings.

Opposition

Queens were promoted after a beating both Dunfermline and Airdrie in the play-offs and are being tipped as a solid addition to the Championship. Owen Coyle’s men started life in the Championship with a 1-1 draw away to Inverness last weekend. Jake Davidson opened the scoring for the Spiders before Billy McKay hauled Inverness level just before half time. There have been 19 goals scored in Queens opening five fixtures as they have found the net 12 times showing themselves to be formidable in attack.

Team News

David Bangala is the only player unavailable.

The Manager Says:

“The performances have been excellent – very frustrating as we want to score more goals but the performance levels have been good. The first half last weekend was really positive and we’re confident the goal will come. Queens will be another good test; they’ve got a good manager and they’ve made some really good signings but if we play like we have been we will be a test for anyone.”
