Players sign new deals
We are delighted to announce that a club legend and two of our brightest prospects have agreed to new one year deals with the club. Forward Michael Moffat and defenders Finn Ecrepont and Michael Hewitt remain at Somerset Park for the 2021/22 season.
Manager David Hopkin said :"Michael Moffat is a hugely popular figure at Somerset Park though that's nothing to do with the reason for giving him a new deal. He is a very intelligent footballer and in top condition. Michael is also keen to move into the fitness coaching side of things and he will be doing plenty of work to make sure the team are in shape for this season.
Mikey and Finn are really good prospects and both had a good taste of first team football last season which will stand them in good stead moving forward. They will be big parts of the squad this coming season."
Michael Moffat scored his 100th goal for the Honest Men against Dundee in November last year and this will be the 36 year-old’s ninth season with the club. A firm fans favourite, the Moff has made 311 appearances for United since signing from Girvan in January 2011, with a three interlude at Dunfermline Athletic.
Also re-signing for another season are youngsters Finn Ecrepont and Michael Hewitt.
18-year old Scotland youth internationalist Finn, who joined his hometown team at the age of 9, gained valuable experience on loan at Albion Rovers last season, making 17 appearances in a campaign cut short due to Covid.
Michael Hewitt (20), who came through the ranks at Rangers, made his first team debut against Albion Rovers in October last year, one of eight league and cup appearances for the Honest Men last season.
