Three days on from our first home win in six months, Ayr United are back in action at Somerset Park when Peterhead are the visitors.
Peterhead occupy seventh spot in the table, one place and 11 points ahead of Ayr. They make the 212 mile trip to Ayrshire on the back of a 3-1 defeat at home to Morton on Saturday. Former United striker Andy Rodgers opened the scoring for the Blue Toon from the penalty spot in the 56th minute before a Declan McManus double and last minute goal from Ross Caldwell earned Jim McInally’s old side the win.
Also in action in League 1 tonight are Stirling Albion who travel to Greenock and Stenhousemuir who host Stranraer. Brechin City face Dunfermline Athletic.

Ian says: “I thought we defended very well, maybe slightly too deep at points however in general we restricted them to very little efforts. In patches we played some good football considering the conditions. Forfar are a big, strong side and I was most pleased about how we toughed it out with them as I felt in previous games we just weren’t physical enough. We have a good idea how Peterhead will play and are looking forward to getting them here tonight and will be aiming for another home win.”
Team news: Martyn Campbell is still out and other than a couple of small niggles everyone has came through Saturdays game and is fit for tonight.
Form: After eight defeats in nine games, the Honest Men have lost only two of their last six.
Peterhead have lost their last two matches away from home and their last midweek fixture was a 5-0 defeat at Stair Park.
Head-to-Head (all competitions): Ayr United wins – 8 Draws – 7 Peterhead wins – 11
In 23 league meetings United have beaten Peterhead just five times – and only once at home. Ryan Stevenson and Alex Williams were on the scoresheet in October 2008. Three games since between the sides at Somerset Park have ended all square.
Last Meeting: Peterhead have defeated Ayr 2-0 on both our trips north this season, including just 10 ago.
On this day: in 2012, United beat Falkirk 1-0 at Somerset Park with Andy Geggan scoring the winning goal in the second-half. The Honest Men have a 50% win rate on this date.
