Partick Thistle | Match Preview
On Saturday, Ayr United travel to Glasgow to take on Partick Thistle in the cinch Championship. It is fifth versus sixth in the league table, with Thistle one point above the Honest Men after seven games.
After steering United to seven points from nine and away from the bottom of the table, Jim Duffy was appointed manager on a permanent basis on Friday and heads to one of his former clubs looking to extend Ayr’s beaten run to five games in all competitions.
Opposition
Thistle head into the game on the back of three straight league defeats. Late strikes from Brian Graham and Zak Rudden were not enough to take anything away from Starks Park last weekend after Rovers raced into a three goal lead.
Ian McCall’s squad includes five former Ayr players, Steven Bell, Scott Tiffoney, Cammy Smith, Stuart Bannigan and captain Ross Docherty while striker Brian Graham - a regular thorn in United’s side - will be looking to add to his tally of 8 goals in 12 games this season.
Team News
Jordan Houston, Daire O'Connor and Michael Hewitt miss out through injury.

The last meeting between the sides was in January 2020 at Firhill. The Friday night fixture saw Brian Graham put Thistle ahead in the 33rd minute, steering home Joe Cardle’s cross from close range but Alan Forrest netted an equaliser for the Honest Men from the penalty spot in the second-half and the game ended 1-1

“We are on a good run of form, confidence is high and hopefully there will be a big and noisy travelling support behind us at Firhill”.
