New Head Coach Search
Ayr United wishes to update supporters regarding the Head Coach search.
Following conversations with a number of potential candidates and formal interviews with a smaller number, the Club is close to identifying and progressing a preferred candidate.
Managing Director, Graeme Mathie gave the following update: "As discussed from the outset, we felt it important to give our supporters an update on the process to recruit a new Head Coach.
Firstly, I'd like to continue my thanks and the thanks of the Board to Davie White, Tommy Tait & Thomas Donovan - their professionalism and abilities have been clear over the last 2 weeks and the team is in capable hands with them leading training and match preparation.
The Chairman and I held initial informal discussions with a number of potential candidates in the week leading up to Christmas and formal interviews alongside the Board throughout last week. What has become clear in all these conversations is that the Ayr United job remains a very viable and exciting opportunity to all those we spoke to. It has been very helpful to me to be able articulate the Board's stability and vision for the Club going forward, in addition to my experiences since coming in to post of a Club which is very much keen to embark on a journey to move forward.
Having discussed and reviewed our outline criteria as a group, we have looked to find a Head Coach who is seen as a credible leader, who is willing to utilise all the resources we have available at Ayr United to improve on field performance and results, and who has a demonstrable ability to make players better.
Whilst we are now nearing the end of the formal process, we also understand that some of the candidates identified are currently in work and the process of negotiating with other Clubs isn't always easy or straightforward.
We hope to have a Head Coach in place for the weekend's match and will update supporters again as soon as possible."
