Ayr United travel to the Kingdom of Fife to face third place Dunfermline Athletic, hoping their two break can bring about a turnaround in form. The Honest Men are on a run of four consecutive defeats and have taken just three points from a possible 24 in the League in recent weeks.
The Pars were in action at the weekend, making the journey down the A77 to Stranraer. A last minute Craig Malcolm goal for the home side means the sides will replay this coming Tuesday after the tie ended 2-2. Goals from Andy Geggan and Gregor Buchanan had put Dunfermline 2-0 up. A slight stumble has seen Jim Jefferies side win just one of their last five league games.

Marko says: The two week break has been great for us as its allowed the injury situation to clear up and we will be going up with close to our full squad. Dunfermline are the best team in the league so we know how difficult it will be. Any team that can afford to leave Michael Moffat on the bench has an embarrassment of riches at this level. Now the injury situation has improved we are going there confident of being able to get a result.
Team news: Dale Shirkie and Sean McKenzie will miss the game with injury, everyone else is fit and available.
Head-to-Head (League): Ayr United wins – 26 Draws – 22 Dunfermline Athletic wins – 38
Dunfermline are unbeaten in the last 11 meetings between the sides. United have lost in 12 of their last 13 trips to East End Park.
Last Meeting: The Pars won the Friday night fixture at Somerset Park in October. Faissal El-Bakhtaoui scored the only goal of the game after 29 minutes. Ayr’s last trip to East End Park was in February when the hosts ended up 3-0 winners courtesy of Ross Forbes and a Lawrence Shankland double.
On this day: Ayr’s record on 6th December reads: P14, W4, D4, L6. The Honest Men’s last victory on this date came in the first round of the Scottish Cup in 1986, a 3-1 victory over Annan Athletic.
