Martyn Campbell Testimonial

We are pleased to announce that the Testimonial match for long serving Central defender Martyn Campbell has been arranged. NIFL Premiership side Coleraine will visit Somerset Park on Saturday 18th July with a 3pm kick off.

The Bannsiders had a disappointing season finishing 8th in the Premiership and are looking to progress in the season ahead. Manager Oran Kearney will bring his side to Scotland as part of their build up to the new season and are pleased to be providing the opposition for Martyn’s game.

The day will also feature an Old Crocks challenge match prior to the main event, (Kick off TBC) and this will see many old and popular faces return to the Club. The format will be a Martyn Campbell select against Mark Campbell select, ensuring a strong competitive element with all participants to be former Ayr United players . Watch this space for details of those coming, which will be confirmed very soon.

Admission will be £10 adults and £5 concessions. Season tickets will not be valid for this game. Should you be unable to attend the game but would like to donate to Martyn’s fund you can do so by sending a cheque payable to The Martyn Campbell Testimonial Association and sending to the same title c/o Somerset Park, Tryfield Place, Ayr, KA8 9NB or donate online using the following link:

Various sponsorship opportunities are available for the day. Please contact Stevie Maguire on (07460914917) or Andrew Downie (07834 903735). We are pleased to thank Ayr United Development Society who have generously sponsored the Half time draw and thank Slater Menswear who are providing the first prize. Grateful thanks also to Tom Robertson of kit suppliers Football 1st who are providing special strips for Martyn and the Team to wear.

Manager Ian McCall said “Big Bobo has been a great servant to the Club and its right and fitting he gets due recognition for his service and I hope the fans will turn out in numbers on the day. This is also a very important part of our pre season preparations and coming 7 days before the season starts with the Petrofac cup it will be a great test for us and also allow the fans to see the new signings in action”

The Testimonial year started with a Somerset Boab funday in the Hospitality suite and continues with the match and will be closed off with a Brunch in September. All activities are being organised by the Martyn Campbell Testimonial Association, which is independent of Ayr United FC.

Testimonial Chairman Stevie Maguire said “We’re pleased to confirm the date for the Testimonial match and will be working hard to make it an enjoyable day for all and we hope Martyn will get a great turnout on the day.”
