MacIntyre joins the Board
We are delighted to confirm that Fraser MacIntyre has joined the Ayr United Football Club Board of Directors.
Fraser is a lifelong supporter of Ayr United, and fondly remembers times travelling around the country supporting the Honest Men, particularly during the 1987-88 season when we won the league under the tenure of Ally MacLeod. At that time Fraser’s dad, Donnie, was also a director of the club.
As a businessman, Fraser is managing director of several businesses, many of which are in the hospitality sector and feature venues in Ayr such as Harleys, Furys and Vinyl. He also operates a travel and events management company, Main Event Travel, which co-ordinates major events in various locations around the world.
Fraser and his wife live in Ayr and have 4 children of whom they are immensely proud.
As an accomplished poker player, Fraser has played in some of the biggest tournaments in the world. He is currently ranked 6th in Scotland on the all-time money list. His other interests include travel, many sports, and being a private pilot.
Fraser said “I am delighted and extremely proud to be asked to join the Board at AUFC. It is a very exciting time for the club, with many positive changes on the horizon. I aim to use my hospitality industry knowledge and experience to help make Somerset an enjoyable place to visit whilst making a positive contribution to the club’s finances, and hopefully seeing a winning team on the park”.
Chairman David Smith said :” We are delighted to have Fraser joining the board of Ayr United at what is an exciting time. His affinity with the football club through being a supporter and his father being a previous chair, coupled with his locality and business knowledge makes it a perfect fit. We have a very lean management structure so all board members are required to lead on an aspect of the business and Fraser’s knowledge of the hospitality industry is a very welcome addition. As well as helping make the big decisions and all the day to day stuff he will have a real focus on our hospitality offering around the stadium and the new Somerset Hub. I’ve known Fraser for a number of years and can’t wait to get his input on the club going forward.”
