Kilmarnock | Match Preview

Tonight (Tuesday), Somerset Park plays host to the second Ayrshire Derby of the season and the first which United fans have been able to attend. The much anticipated fixture pits two of the Championship’s form sides together, with both sides having taken 8 points from their last six games - only Raith Rovers have a better record over recent weeks.

The Honest Men extended a good run of results on Saturday, again battling back from going a goal down this time to earn a point at Arbroath. Jim Duffy has lost just one of his seven matches in charge.

Opposition

With four draws in the Championship on Saturday, Kilmarnock were the only side to pick up maximum points at the weekend with a 2-1 home win over Hamilton Accies. The result puts Tommy Wright’s side in second place in the table, three points behind leaders Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Killie are yet to lose away from home in the league this season, picking up 11 points from a possible 15 but have just one win in their last four Championship fixtures following draws at Arbroath and Dunfermline and defeat at home to Raith Rovers.

Team News

O'Connor, McGinty and Hewitt miss out through injury.

The Manager Says:

“There is doubting this is a big game for the supporters but it is our job to remain focused on what is at stake and that is three points like any other game.

"We've had to show our battling qualities in the last two games and the players have shown a real desire when asked the question and I am sure there will be no lack of fight again this evening.

“Kilmarnock have good players, particularly at the top end of the pitch, and are among the favourites to win the league but we'll be ready for the challenge."
