Mark Kerr has moved to strengthen his squad further ahead of the 2020/21 season with the signing of Jack Baird.
The 24 year-old defender has put pen to paper on a 2 year deal at Somerset Park after leaving St. Mirren by mutual consent yesterday after nearly 10 years with the Paisley club.
Mark said: “Jack had a number of good offers on the table but we are delighted to get him. He is still young but brings great experience at Championship level and above. He has good height and pace and will complement the options we already have in defence”.
Jack signed for St. Mirren shortly before his 15th birthday and went on to make 165 appearances for the Buddies. He made his first-team debut at the age of 18 in the Scottish Premiership in 2014 and became a first-team regular over the next four seasons, playing an important big role in the Saints promotion back to the Premiership in 2018 and survival the following season.
After falling out of favour under new manager Jim Goodwin, Jack was on loan with rivals Greenock Morton last term, making 24 appearances in the Championship where he chipped in with three goals, including the opener in Ton’s 3-2 defeat against Ayr at Cappielow in October – Mark Kerr’s first win as United manager.
