Frank Ross becomes latest Don deal
Ian McCall has made his third signing of the Summer, adding Aberdeen midfielder Frank Ross to his squad, on loan until January.
Ian said :”We are absolutely delighted to get him as there was plenty of interest. With Declan leaving in the Summer it left us light in the wide areas. Frank can play off the left or right and he is definitely one to excite the fans. His remit is to come here, perform really well for 6 months and push himself right back into the reckoning for the first team at Aberdeen.”
Another Dons youngster to make the switch to Somerset Park, Ross is rated highly at Pittodrie but missed the majority of the last campaign with a back injury suffered on international duty with the Scotland U21s. The 21-year-old signed a new deal with the Reds in May and will be hoping a stint with the Honest Men can help re-establish him in the Aberdeen first-team.
Part of the Aberdeen Youth Academy since the age of eight, the Ellon-born player made his senior debut in May 2015, one of 11 substitute appearances alongside three starts for the Aberdeen first team. He has one goal for the Dons – a stunning free-kick against Rangers in December 2017. Later that season, Frank joined Greenock Morton on loan, making 18 appearances for the Cappielow club and scoring twice.
He impressed Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty at the start of last season in a number of fixtures, including a Betfred League Cup tie against St Mirren and the following week’s Premiership fixture at Easter Road against Hibernian, but saw his progress curtailed by the long term injury.
An attack-minded player, Frank is comfortable on either wing.
