The Manager Says:
Head to Head
Elgin City are out for a hat-trick of cup shocks over the Honest Men at Borough Briggs in just the third meeting between the sides.
In 1967, Division One United suffered a 2-0 midweek loss against the then Highland League club. More recently, following Elgin’s election to the SFL in 2000, City were again victorious over a visiting Ayr United side, winning a League Cup tie in extra-time. Steven McKeown opened the scoring in the 17th minute for Ayr but two Craig Gunn goals either side of half-time put City ahead. Aaron Connolly made it 2-2 and sent the game to extra-time only for Paul Miller to net the winner in the 112th minute.
