Dundee match preview
SPFL Championship Tuesday 6th April 2021. Kick-off 7pm
Ayr United vs. Dundee
On Tuesday evening we host Dundee at Somerset Park in another vital Championship fixture. With just five games remaining this season, both clubs are looking to bounce back from disappointing Scottish Cup exits at the weekend; United at home to League 1 Clyde and Dundee in a Tayside derby against St. Johnstone at Dens Park.
The Honest Men have lost just one of their last six Championship matches but remain just one point clear of the relegation play-off spot.
Opposition
Dundee can go level on points with second-place Raith Rovers and open up a six-point cushion in the promotion play-offs with a win at Somerset Park. Last time out in the Championship they came back from losing two early goals at home to promotion rivals Dunfermline to win 3-2 in the televised fixture.
Jason Cummings was on the scoresheet against the Pars, his fifth goal in ten games for the Dark Blues since signing from Shrewsbury Town in January. Paul McMullan, who made the short trip across Tannadice Street, has also impressed since joining from city rivals Dundee United.

Last Meeting:
Ayr were 3-1 winners at Dens Park just last month. Mark McKenzie - with his first two goals in senior football - and Cammy Smith put the Honest Men into the lead; Osman Sow netted a late consolation. The Honest Men also won by a two goal margin at Somerset Park earlier in the season; strikes from Cammy Smith and Michael Moffat - his 100th for the club - in the first-half handed Ayr a comfortable win back in November.

It is a massive game. We need points and we need them quickly. Dundee have hit some better form so will be confident coming here but we have to take confidence from what happened at Dens. We had a good chat with the players today, we just won't accept that kind of performance on Saturday and they are fully aware of that. We need to put things right for the fans and see a big reaction tomorrow night.
