Daire is an Honest Man

O’Connor joins the Honest Men

Ayr United have today completed the signing of Irish midfielder Daire O’Connor.

The winger, who scored six goals in 36 appearances for Cliftonville in the NIFL Premiership last season, has signed a 1 year deal with the Honest Men.

Manager David Hopkin said: "Daire has had other options this Summer so we are delighted to get him. He is pacy and a really tricky player, there is real potential for him to be a big fans favourite here."

The 24-year old started his senior career with University College Dublin, scoring 12 goals in 76 appearances over four seasons with the League of Ireland First Division club, attracting the attention of the Republic of Ireland U19 selectors and helping UCD to the First Division title in 2018.

A powerful, direct runner with the ball, the County Wicklow-born attacker signed for Cork City ahead of the 2019 Irish season before a move to the Northern Irish Premiership and Belfast side Cliftonville in October 2020.
