Club Statement

Ayr United versus Falkirk on Saturday is expected to be the highest league crowd of the season thus far at Somerset Park.  We are looking forward to the game, and to the atmosphere from both sets of supporters in what is expected to be an open and exciting game of football.

Further to the last home match versus Morton where a young supporter was injured as a group ran towards the Railway End segregation fence, the Club wishes to issue the following note to supporters:

The main segregation fence to access the far end of the North Terrace will remain open for this match, but there will be a set of barriers and an increased stewarding presence following the line of the stairs to ensure that the corner area is not accessed by either set of supporters.  The number of people charging towards the Railway End fence caused injury to a fellow supporter, and the risk of injury becomes much greater with a significantly increased crowd.  This measure will be in place for the Falkirk match and its effectiveness analysed.

The club fully appreciates the noise coming from this corner when the team shoots towards the Railway End and it is hoped that this measure will see a return to normal levels of conduct and mean there does not need to be further discussions on other options.

Please do not run towards the corner area in the event the team scores a goal.

Thank you once again for your fantastic support, and we hope the above note serves as a reminder that we all have a duty to ensure Somerset Park remains a terrific stadium to enjoy exciting football in a safe manner for everyone.
