Bis: Live in Ayr.
Friday 15th July 2022.
Scottish Indie-Pop legends bis are delighted to be making a rare live appearance at Cameron's Bar, Somerset Park on Friday 15th July. Now based in Glasgow and Inverness, the trio have strong Ayrshire connections - the Clark brothers (Sci-Fi Steven and John Disco) are lifelong Ayr United supporters and alongside Manda Rin have been together for the best part of 30 years. A rollercoaster of a career has seen them famously appear on Top Of the Pops, the front cover of the NME and at countless festivals and TV shows around the world. High points include selling 100,000 copies of their debut album "The New Transistor Heroes" in a single week in Japan, being the very first band to ever play the main stage at the Coachella Festival in California and Sci-Fi Steven wearing the full Ayr United kit, shorts and socks included, on stage at T in the Park in 1999.
The band has toured alongside Foo Fighters, Garbage and The Cardigans among others as well as having been signed in the US to The Beastie Boys own Grand Royal record label. Best-known for breakthrough hit "Kandy Pop", a staple of Indie-Disco's in the late 1990's, the more electronic "Eurodisco", a Top 10 hit in Spain, and the relentlessly catchy theme song to Hanna Barbera's cartoon "The Powerpuff Girls" which topped the Billboard children's music chart for six weeks. The band are currently putting the finishing touches on their next album, to be released on the Last Night From Glasgow label in late 2022.
With an appearance at Doune The Rabbit Hole festival the band's only other Scottish date in 2022, this is a rare chance to see the band in Ayr United's excellent new hub facility. In fact, as far as Steven can remember, it will be the band's first appearance in Ayrshire since a house party in Patna sometime in the 90's.
