Audited Accounts | Chairman's Statement
Year ending 30th June 2021
We are very satisfied with our audited accounts for year ending 30th June 2021.
The year continued its challenges relative to the pandemic and its impact on our operations. We navigated through the Covid-19 hurdles acting in the best interest of our people at all times and are thankful for the assistance received via the Scottish Government and the SPFL. This offset the lack of income over the period due to games being played behind closed doors and no fan revenue other than streaming.
Our historical debt was again addressed with a substantial 'write off' of a loan which has had a dramatic and positive impact on our balance sheet. The club will continue to address historical loans with the target over the next period being to get a positive balance sheet position.
The development of the new 'Somerset Hub' incorporating new offices, shop, social club and beer garden is a great example of our positive intentions. It continues the clubs commitment to improve standards and infrastructure around the stadium and whilst the financial commitment is external, the club gets exclusive use of the facility in exchange for sponsorship opportunities.
Whilst there is still some to way to go to achieve a 'break even' position, the work undertaken to date shouldn't be underestimated and allows us to plan future investment in the club with confidence. Whilst we are however, not yet in the sustainable position we have set as a target but the changes within the business and new personnel give us every opportunity to push on as a football club.
The board are incredibly grateful to our supporters, volunteers, sponsors, staff and wider AUFC family for their support and we hope that together we collectively push towards a bright future.
