Arbroath | Match Preview

On Saturday, Ayr United travel to Gayfield to take on Arbroath in the cinch Championship. It is fifth versus sixth in the league table, with the Red Lichties three points above the Honest Men after nine games.

After steering United to a third league win in five games in charge against Queen of the South last Saturday, Jim Duffy leads his team to Angus looking to edge the Honest Men closer the the promotion play-offs.

While Arbroath have enjoyed a strong start to the season - with Dick Campbell scooping the Championship Glen's Manager of the Month award for September - the Red Lichties are without a win in their last three fixtures. Last weekend they were defeated 2-1 by Raith Rovers at Starks Park, Anton Dowds 90th minute strike proving only to be a consolation. The defeat followed draws at home to Kilmarnock and away to Morton.

Team News

Houston, McGinty, O'Connor and Hewitt miss out through injury.

The Manager Says:

"The reaction the players showed last weekend was terrific, both to the result at Thistle and to going behind in the game. They showed a strong mentality and desire to get back in the game and the aim is now to build on that second-half performance and put a run of results together, starting at Arbroath.

“We know all about Dick’s side and the quality they have so it will be a tough test but one we are looking forward to."
